Varia joined the Tourism Industry in 1996 in Adelaide as an inbound tour operator after living and working in Europe for 3 years.   Her experience as an inbound operator in the Asian markets included product development for clients in the Eastern States as well as a wine tourism product in South Australia.  In 1998 Varia moved to Sydney and worked in hotel sales as a specialists market sales person initially in the Asia & Japan markets, then moving to the Europe/US markets.  During her time in Sydney she also increased her sales experience in the corporate, conference and most importantly consumer direct markets.  

She moved to Queensland in 2001 and was part of the development team for Travelthere.com the first fully integrated travel website offering hotels, car hire, tours, flights and corporate travel program (now owned by Flightcentre Ltd).  Her responsibility was to develop the SME corporate program including account management and contracting.  In 2008 she joined Rendezvous Hotels as the Brisbane Director of Sales & Marketing and worked with the Rendezvous team for 4 1/2 years.  From Rendezvous she moved to Head of Sales & Marketing for Ocean Hotels (TNQ and Whitsunday products) for two years. Based in Brisbane she reported to the Sydney Board of Directors and travelled monthly to Whitsunday's and Cairns to manage the sales teams and key contracts.  

In 2010 she formed 707 Tourism Services offering her years of experience in sales and marketing to independent hotels and tour products with the aim to increase their revenue.  Ocean Hotels was her first contracted client.

Since then she has successfully assisted hotels in business contracting (corporate, government & conferencing), leisure contracting (wholesale, retail, groups) and consumer direct marketing to increase revenue;  assisted several hotels with strategic planning, sales contracting and revenue & yield training with the aim to increase nett revenue for property sale; completed 3 hotel openings; assisted new managers to understand and increase their revenue, yielding and market source potential;  and manages hotel online presence through OTAs, social media, reputation management and ensuring websites are converting revenue.
