Ian Mason has over 20 years’ experience in tourism management, hospitality and public relations. He has held management roles at Tourism Tropical North Queensland, Fraser Coast South Burnett Tourism, Bass Coast Shire Council (Phillip Island) and Macedon Ranges Shire Council, and at ASDA’A Burson-Marsteller in Abu Dhabi was the lead PR account manager for his client Reed Exhibitions managing media for events such as the World Future Energy Summit.
Ian was previously Vice-President of Queensland Information Centres Association; a judge for the NSW Tourism Awards; has sat on several destination management committees; and operated a consultancy specializing in writing tourism and hospitality award submissions.
More recently, Ian has moved into vocational teaching roles for a number of institutions in Melbourne, Sydney and Queensland, including Program Manager (Tourism & Events) at Martin College Brisbane and Gold Coast. He is currently an off-shore teacher (events management) for TAFE Queensland in Shanghai, following a successful teaching contract with TAFE NSW in Abu Dhabi where he also conducted industry training for Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority.
Ian holds a Bachelor of Business (Tourism and Travel Management, major in marketing), a Certificate in Public Relations, and a Masters in Communication.
