Debra has worked in local government for almost 18 years and in the private sector for just over 19 years.

In May 2014, Debra was appointed Manager Economic Development with Mackay Regional Council and returned to Queensland to take up this exciting opportunity.

In September 2012, Debra commenced at the City of Moreland, Melbourne as Manager City Economy & Places responsible for economic development, place management and major projects and investment facilitation.

In April 2011, Debra relocated from Queensland and joined the City of Port Phillip, Melbourne as Coordinator Economic Development.

Debra previously managed the Economic Development, Tourism and Events Branch with the Toowoomba Regional Council - responsible for regional economic development, Sister City relationships, tourism marketing and development, sports tourism development, Visitor Information Centres, regional events and management and delivery of Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.

Debra was also responsible for the Toowoomba Regional Council’s Economic Development Board which evolved into Toowoomba & Surat Basin Enterprise.

Previous positions include:
Director - Community Economic Development with the Crows Nest Shire Council Queensland;
Team Leader Destination Development - Tourism Queensland;
Brisbane City Council - Tourism Branch and Team Leader, Local Economic Development (a role focused on the delivery of the Life in the Suburbs program, a highly successful program which is a hybrid version of Mainstreet).

Debra was a Board Member (for three years) and President (for two years) - Toowoomba, Golden West & South Burnett Regional Tourist Association.

She holds a Graduate Certificate in Management and is a Justice of the Peace Qualified (QLD).

Debra won the 2010 Queensland Telstra Business Women’s White Pages Community and Government Award, in the Year of Women in Local Government, and went on to compete in the 2010 Australian Telstra Business Women’s Award.
